For the past two years, my family has used this simple “cup” Advent calendar to count down to Christmas. The total cost to make this Advent Calendar is under $5, because I bought everything needed at the local dollar store.
Supplies Needed to make Cup Advent Calendar:
25 paper cups
25 Clothespins
Thumbtacks
Curling ribbon
Pen/Permanent Marker
Scotch Tape
Instructions to Make and Use Cup Advent Calendar:
1. Write numbers 1-25 on the outside of the cups.
2. Print out Advent Verses for each day and cut out. We used these ready-made printable Advent Bible verses. Another idea is to print out a random act of kindness for each day.
3. Tape verses (or acts of kindness) inside each cup.
4. Hang curling ribbon to wall with thumbtacks.
5. Hang cups from ribbon with clothespins.
6. Each day, add a special treat/prize to the cups for each child (or a family treat/prize). Examples include: lollipops, little toys like bouncy balls, Hershey kisses, strawberries, etc.
7. Each day, a child takes down the cup for the day, reads the verse, and distributes the treats.
This Christmas Cup Advent Calendar has been a fun, memory-making activity that our whole family enjoys through the Christmas season.
This is one of the most original ideas I’ve seen! Too cute and it looks so fun! Great idea! 🙂
