Easy butter mints are a favorite in our house. They beat store-bought mints hands-down with their rich, buttery flavor, and soft sugary texture. Butter mints are perfect to bring to a holiday or Christmas dinner. They are also great to serve at home or just for a little after-dinner snack. These butter mints are so easy to make — without children around, I made them in under 20 minutes. With children, well, it took a bit longer.
Step 1: Gather your ingredients:
Milk (2 Tbsp)
Butter (1 Stick)
Confectionery Sugar (1 box — 16 ounces)
Vanilla extract (1 tsp)
Mint extract (1 tsp)
Food coloring (if desired)
Granulated sugar in a small bowl
Step 2: Melt butter and pour into mixing bowl. Add half the confectionery sugar, and mix well.
Step 3: Add milk, extracts, and remaining confectionery sugar. Mix well.
Step 4: Divide in half. Color mints if desired with food coloring.
Step 5: Roll into “snake” on wax paper. Cut into small mints. Roll mints in bowl of sugar until coated with sugar. Place in container.
Step 6: Eat! They are so delicious. If you want firmer butter mints, refrigerate.
I think you will love making these simple butter mints. You may love the taste even more than I do, but it’s doubtful!
