Winter has arrived in Pennsylvania, and I wanted to try making snow ice cream with the kids. I have read a variety of snow ice cream recipes online, but had a difficult time finding an “individual serving” recipe for snow ice cream, rather than a large batch.
I developed my own “5 step” snow ice cream recipe for single/individual servings:
1) In measuring cup, measure ¼ cup of milk or cream
2) Add up to 1/4 cup sugar – depending on how sweet you want your ice cream.
3) Mix thoroughly until sugar has dissolved. Add a drop of vanilla extract and mix thoroughly.
4) Get a regular sized bowl of fresh snow
5) Pour milk/sugar/vanilla mixture on top of snow and mix well. Eat right away.
A suggestion for variety is to substitute strawberry milk or chocolate milk for different “flavors” of snow ice cream. If you do this, you can cut back on the sugar.
Also, try adding toppings like sprinkles, caramel, or fudge for a “snow sundae”.
