Are you tired of having to spend tons of money on specific cleaning products? Do you pay extra for the more expensive products, because you think they will clean better? We all want our houses to be impeccably clean, but there is an alternative, less expensive way. In this article you will find some tips on how to be a good housekeeper without harming your budget.
It is possible to clean almost anything in your home with some simple products that you already own.
1) Carpet Cleaning. When your carpet gets a nasty stain, do you spend money on expensive carpet cleaning products or bring them to a professional cleaner? Save time and money — dissolve a table spoon of backing soda in a cup or two of warm water. Find a clean cloth, put some of the solution on it, and dab the stain. Do not scrub, just dab! Repeat as often as necessary until desired cleanliness is achieved.
2) Clogged Drains. Rather than paying for chemicals, un-clog your drain in this simple and inexpensive way. Dump ½ cup baking soda into your drain, followed by ½ cup vinegar. Put a rag over it, and let it soak for 5-10 minutes. Rinse with warm water. Repeat if needed.
3) Pet Hair Removal. Pet hair can tend to stick everywhere, and no matter how much you vacuum, it can be difficult to remove from your couch or sofa. Put on a rubber cleaning glove and get it wet. Slide it across your sofa cushions. The hair should stick to the glove instead of the couch.
4) Cleaning Toys and Other Items. Your dishwasher can be used to clean much more than only your dishes. Use it to clean plastic toothbrush holders, pots, pet dishes, plastic toys (if you have kids), and even your rubber gloves and sponges. This will save you much time and energy.
5) Hiding Scratches on Wood Surfaces. Rather than purchasing an expensive wood polishing product to hide a scratch, find some peeled walnuts in your pantry. Rub these across the scratch to mask it.
